THE DISREPUTABLE SON OF FRANCE

France, Juventus and ex-Manchester united midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years due to doping offence. The France midfielder is banned until August 2027, where he will be aged 34. The former Manchester United player  was suspended by Italy's national anti-doping tribunal in September after testing positive of DHEA. DHEA is a compound that promotes the production of hormones in the body including testosterone. This was conducted during Juventus Serie A match with Udinese on August 20, where he was unused substitute.

The four year suspension was granted on Thursday. The ban raises doubts  whether his career will continue after that, however, French football expert Jonathan Johnson expects Pogba to appeal his four-year ban for doping. Pogba can appeal his ban to the court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS)

Pogba helped France win the previous Word Cup, scoring in the 4-2 win over Croatia in the final in Russia. He won 91 caps for France. He played in 178 matches for Juventus from 2012-16. He then returned to Manchester united  for a world-record £89 in 2016. In his first season at united he won the Europa League and FA Cup where he later returned to Juventus for a second spell in the summer of 2022 after his contract with Manchester united expired. He has just made two appearances for Juventus, both from the bench. It is now uncertain what the future holds for the 2018 World Cup winner.
